When you open an Office 2016 application, the Adobe Acrobat tab may be missing even though the add-in is available. Before you try any of the steps below, ensure your version of Adobe Acrobat is compatible with Office 2016. You should also install the latest updates for Office 2016. To do this, open an Office 2016 application, and click File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
Enable the Acrobat PDFMaker Add-in
- If it is not listed, then make sure that PDFMOfficeAddin.dll is located in the './Program Files/Adobe/Acrobat 10.0/PDFMaker/Office' folder. If the file is missing, then reinstall Acrobat. Note: Microsoft Office Applications disable add-ins as a failsafe if the application is prematurely closed (for example, if the system wasn't shut off properly or the application crashed).
- PDFMaker Office COM Addin will not stay enabled. Checked COM addins and the 'Adobe PDFMaker Office COM Addin' was unchecked. Checked it, closed Word, re-opened Word, found it unchecked again. Ran Word as a local administrator and the box remained checked (or unchecked) across numerous changes in state & restarts. Per numerous pages I've tried the following.
- Open any Office application, such as Word, and then click File Account Update Options Update Now. Ensure that your version of Adobe PDF Maker is compatible with your version of Office. Go to the Adobe Acrobat compatibility page. Make sure the add-in is enabled. Open an Office application, such as Word.
- Open any Office 2016 application and click File > Options > Add-ins.
- Select COM Add-ins next to Manage and click Go.
- In the list of available add-ins, find the Acrobat PDFMaker COM Add-in and check if it's enabled. If it isn't, check the box to enable it.
Oct 22, 2013 If it is not listed, then make sure that PDFMOfficeAddin.dll is located in the './Program Files/Adobe/Acrobat 10.0/PDFMaker/Office' folder. If the file is missing, then reinstall Acrobat. Note: Microsoft Office Applications disable add-ins as a failsafe if the application is prematurely closed (for example, if the system wasn't shut off properly or the application crashed). As you have mentioned that you have both the version Adobe Acrobat XI and the Acrobat DC. The PDF maker that will be installed is the latest version available in this case. However as mentioned by TestScreenName above, it is always suggested to use the latest version of the application.
